How I found fitness.

I remember the moment I accepted the “mom bod” after my first child, at the young age of 23. I had the thought “this is it, my body that was once unmarked and smaller framed would now be something to cover, hiding the remnants of a life once lived but uncomfortable to be seen.
That acceptance switched for me after my second child. I had a desire to be in shape.
I had that the thought “Is this a selfish desire?” BUT also curiosity, “Could I be in shape?” (I’ was told I would never have a six pack again- HA – joke was on them… I didn’t have one before but I have after)
Now, 12 years later, I have four children, married for 16 years to a physician/business, a small business owner myself, a national bodybuilding competitor (also an overall winner at Salt City Showdown) AND I still take time for myself.
I want my children to see their mom as a woman that is still deserving to care for herself, worth of goals and ambitions. I am trying to set an example for what I want for them, when/if they are called to parenthood.
I am also a personal trainer for over ten years. I love empowering other women to dig deep, discover their why’s and help them on their own journey. I am aware that fitness and self-discovery are not a “one-size-fits-all”
And if you call me “Laura” I know you don’t know me…. My first name is “Laura Lee” – thank you mom and dad for giving me two words for my first name.

If a macro friendly meal has more than 4 steps, I really start to reconsider life choices. Ok, that’s a little too dramatic. I must be around my teenage girls too often. But, let’s be real here. Last thing I want to do is find this meal that is macro friendly, that I’m all excited…
